COURSES TAUGHT

Human Anatomy and Physiology I (BIOL 111; 4 CR)
An introduction to human structure and function. The integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous and endocrine systems are considered. Includes one 3-hour laboratory session per week. Satisfies UAA general education and CAS natural science degree requirements for specified baccalaureate degree programs.

Human Anatomy and Physiology II (BIOL 112; 4 CR)
A continuation of BIOL 111. The circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, reproductive and immune systems are considered. Includes one 3-hour laboratory session per week. Satisfies UAA general education and CAS natural science degree requirements for specified baccalaureate degree programs. Prerequisites: BIOL 111.

Human Gross Anatomy (BIOL 485/685; 4 CR)
Detailed coverage of the structural organization of the human body at the macroscopic level. A regional approach to anatomy is taken and structural/functional relationships are emphasized. General anatomical concepts are presented in lecture format but a significant amount of learning takes place in the dissecting laboratory. Satisfies UAA upper-division program elective requirements for the B.Sc. and B.A. degrees in Biological Sciences. Offered in spring semesters. Prerequisites: Upper division standing + instructor approval required.

Comparative Anatomy of Vertebrates (BIOL 487; 4 CR)
Functional anatomy, ecology and evolution of chordates. Includes one 3-hour laboratory session per week. Satisfies UAA upper-division program elective requirements for the B.Sc. and B.A. degrees in Biological Sciences. Offered in alternate fall semesters. Prerequisites: BIOL 242.

Human Anatomy and Kinesiology: A Clinician's Review (BIOL 501; 2 CR)
Professional development course designed to provide clinicians with a solid anatomical and kinesiologic review and basis for understanding normal and abnormal function of the musculoskeletal system. Offered as an intensive mini-course in late spring and includes lecture and dissection sessions. Special course fees apply. Instructor approval required.
